GROHE is one of the world's leading manufacturers of bathroom and kitchen fittings, headquartered in Dusseldorf. Their Sense product line brings water management into the connected home: sensors that detect leaks, monitor consumption, and protect against pipe damage.

Droxic supported the existing development team to enhance, maintain, and expand the GROHE Sense mobile apps for both iOS and Android. The work focused on new feature development, device integration, and performance monitoring. Within the first months, daily active users increased by 56%.

Context & Problem

GROHE Sense is a connected water management system. The hardware includes the Sense sensor (which monitors humidity and temperature) and the Sense Guard (which sits on the main water line and can detect leaks, measure consumption, and shut off water automatically). Both devices connect to a mobile app that gives homeowners and installers full control.

The app needed to keep pace with the hardware. As GROHE expanded the Sense product line, the mobile experience had to support new device types, new notification systems, and simpler setup flows for both end users and professional installers. At the same time, GROHE needed better visibility into app performance, crash data, and usage patterns.

GROHE brought Droxic in to work alongside their internal team, extending their development capacity across both iOS and Android.

Our Solution & Technologies

Droxic's team integrated into GROHE's existing development workflows from day one, working across both the Android and iOS codebases. The focus was on building new features, improving device integration flows, and adding monitoring infrastructure to give GROHE better insight into how the app was performing in the field.

On Android, the team implemented a QR code scanner for faster device setup, added micro leakage notifications to alert users about small but persistent water issues, and streamlined the light integration process to reduce errors and save time for installers.

On iOS, the team introduced a 'Snooze' feature that lets users temporarily pause water monitoring (for example, when filling a pool), built QR code integration for connecting Sense and Guard devices without manual WiFi configuration, and integrated NewRelic and Crashlytics for crash logging, usage analytics, and HTTP error tracking.

The monitoring integrations were particularly valuable. With NewRelic and Crashlytics in place, GROHE gained visibility into real-world app behaviour: crash patterns, HTTP request errors, and usage data that informed future development priorities.
